Printing your coloring pages at home

A good coloring afternoon starts with one good test print. You do not need to print the entire book at once.

Choose the file that matches your paper

Our printable books include two files with the same illustrations. Use the A4 edition for A4 paper, or the US Letter edition for 8.5 × 11 inch paper. Choosing the matching file keeps the intended margins around the square artwork.

Start with one design

The first PDF page is a printing guide. Designs begin on page 2. Select one design page in your print dialog, choose Actual size or 100%, and turn off double-sided printing. Check the preview before pressing Print.

If the edges are cut off, confirm that the selected paper size matches both the file and the paper in the tray. Printer software varies; a test page is the quickest way to catch a setting that needs changing.

Match your supplies to the paper

Ordinary printer paper is a practical place to start with colored pencils. If you want to try thicker paper, first check the paper types and weights supported by your printer. Use paper intended for your printer type.

Pens and markers can bleed through paper. Test them on a spare sheet and place a protective sheet underneath while coloring. Printing single-sided leaves the back free and avoids sacrificing another design.

Keep a fresh copy for another day

Save the original PDFs somewhere you can find them. You can print a favorite design again for your own personal use and try a different palette. Your files are also accessible through your library, using the email you entered at checkout.
